Front Sensor Replacement

Removal

CAUTION

  • Removal of the airbag must be performed according to the precautions/procedures described before.
  • Before disconnecting the side impact sensor 2P connector(s), disconnect the driver's and front passenger's airbag 2P and both seat belt tensioner 2P connector(s).
  • Do not turn the ignition switch ON (II) and do not connect the battery cable while replacing the side impact sensor.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
  2. Remove the front inner fender (see page 20-121).
  3. Disconnect the engine compartment wire harness 2P connector (A) and remove the two Torx bolts (B) using a Torx T30 bit, then remove the front sensor (C).

Installation

CAUTION

  • Be sure to install the harness wires so that they are not pinched or interfering with other parts.
  • Do not turn the ignition switch ON (II) and do not connect the battery cable while replacing the side impact sensor.

  1. Install the new front sensor with new Torx bolts (A), then connect the engine compartment wire harness 2P connector (B) to the front sensor (C).

  1. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. After installing the front sensor, confirm proper system operation: Turn the ignition switch ON (II): the SRS indicator light should come on for about 6 seconds and then go off.
