Radiator and Fans Replacement

  1. Drain the engine coolant (see page 10-6).
  1. Remove the front bumper, refer to the 2001 Civic 5-door Shop Manual Supplement (see page 20-8).
  1. If the A/C compressor is equipped, remove the bulkhead.
  1. Remove the upper radiator hose and lower radiator hose.

  1. RADIATOR FAN ASSEMBLY
  2. UPPER RADIATOR HOSE
  3. DRAIN PLUG
  4. RADIATOR CAP
  5. RADIATOR
  6. O-RING,

    Replace

  7. O-RING

    Replace

  8. LOWER CUSHION
  9. RADIATOR FAN SWITCH

    24 Nm (2.4 kgf/m, 17 lbf/ft)

  10. LOWER RADIATOR HOSE
  11. RESERVE TANK
  12. A/C CONDENSER FAN ASSEMBLY
  13. RADIATOR FAN SWITCH CONNECTOR
  14. FAN MOTOR CONNECTORS

  1. Disconnect the fan motor connectors and radiator fan switch connector, then pull up the radiator.
  1. Remove the fan shroud assemblies and other parts from the radiator.
  1. Install the radiator in the reverse order of removal. Make sure the upper and lower cushions are set securely.
  1. Fill the radiator with engine coolant and bleed the air (see page 10-6).
