DTC P0715: Problem in mainshaft Speed Sensor Circuit NOTE:
Code 15, 15-1, P0715 on the PCM doesn't always mean there's an electrical problem in the mainshaft or countershaft speed sensor circuit; code 15, 15-1, P0715 may also indicate a mechanical problem in the transmission. Any problem causing irregular countershaft to mainshaft speed difference can cause this code.
Are the mainshaft and countershaft speed sensor installed properly? YES - Go to step 2. NO - Reinstall and recheck.
MAINSHAFT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR Terminal side of male terminals Is there 400-600 ohm? YES - Go to step 4. NO - Replace the mainshaft speed sensor. |
PCM CONNECTOR C (22P) Wire side of female terminals Is there continuity? YES - Repair short to ground in the wires between PCM connector terminals C7 and C21 and the mainshaft speed sensor. NO - Go to step 6.
PCM CONNECTOR C (22P) Wire side of female terminals Is there 400-600 ohm? YES - Run the Electrical Troubleshooting Flowchart for code P0720 (code 9). Check for loose terminal fit in the PCM connectors. If necessary, substitute a known-good PCM and recheck. NO - Go to step 8. |
