  1. Turn the ignition switch ACC (ll).
  2. Check for continuity between the No. 8 terminal of the interlock control unit connector and body ground when the shift lever is in any position other than and when the shift lever is in

INTERLOCK CONTROL UNIT CONNECTOR

Is there continuity in any position other than and no continuity in ?

YES - Check for loose terminal fit in the interlock control unit connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good interlock control unit and recheck.

NO - Go to step 24.

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  1. Remove the interlock relay (shift lock solenoid) and check for continuity between these terminals:
  • No. 1 and No. 3
  • No. 2 and No. 5
  • No. 4 and No. 5 with connecting battery voltage to terminals No. 1 and No. 3 and also check for no continuity between terminals No. 2 and No. 5.

Does the interlock relay (shift lock solenoid) operate properly?

YES - Go to step 26.

NO - Replace the interlock relay (shift lock solenoid).
