Press the brake pedal and measure the voltage between the No. 1 and No. 3 terminals of the D3 switch/shift lock solenoid connector (6P) when the shift lever is in position and when the lever out of by pushing the shift lock release. D3 SWITCH/SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID CONNECTOR (6P) Wire side of female terminals Is there battery voltage when the shift lever is in position and 0 V when the sift lever out of ? YES - Go to step 15. NO - Go to step 17.

Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the shift lock solenoid connector (2P) on the shift lever bracket base. Connect the battery positive terminal to the No. 1 terminal of the shift lock solenoid connector (2P) and connect the battery negative terminal to the No. 2 terminal. NOTE: Do not connect the battery positive terminal to the No. 2 terminal or you will damage the diode inside the shift lock solenoid. SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID CONNECTOR (2P) Wire side of female terminals Does the shift lock solenoid operate properly? YES - Check that the shift lock mechanism works properly. If the mechanism does not work, repair or replace the shift lever assembly. NO - Check for an open in the shift lock solenoid wires between 6P connector terminals and 2P connector terminal in the D3 switch/shift lock solenoid harness. IF the wires are OK, replace the shift lock solenoid.
